This the Season For an Attitude of Gratitude

Christmas is upon us once again. Every year, I am struck by the generosity I see in others this time of year. I see people donate money, time and much needed items to people who are grateful for clean socks and warm clothes. It makes me wonder why we don’t take opportunities all year long to give to those less fortunate or make sure our loved ones know how much we care about them. Instead, the other 11 months of the year seem to be spent focusing on what we don’t have. We spend so much time thinking about how much better our lives would be if only we had more money, lost weight or had the newest gadget. What changes our perspective around Christmas? What allows us put aside our entitlement to feel gratitude this time of year? I encourage you to take this attitude into next year and look for opportunities to step outside yourself. Every time you start to think about what you want or how your life could be better, take a step back to remind yourself how much you do have. Look for all of the positives in your life rather than dwelling on negatives.
